Lomi lomi is a Hawaiian massage that uses massage techniques to restore energy and soothe the body. Traditionally based on the philosophy of Huna, which teaches that in the World circulates a kind of life-giving energy called ‘mana’. Hawaiians believe that negative energy can cause blockages in your ‘mana’ (life force). These blockages can become trapped, so various stretches are performed during the massage to ‘release’ these negative energies.

The massage works gently, yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, allowing the recipient to relax and give in to the nurturing touch. The long, continuous strokes of the massage are designed to help the body let go of its old patterns and behaviours, which can cause stresses and strains as muscle tension.

Different from most other massages, the Lomi massage works on the whole of the back or front of the body at one time. The sweeping movements mimic the ocean waves. This restorative massage works on the tummy to aid digestion and concludes with a face and scalp massage.
