Q & A with Chelsea:
Why did you get into the Beauty industry?
‘I always loved the thought of travelling whilst carrying out beauty treatments and pampering people. After I qualified, I worked at Center Parcs aqua sana for 2 years and decided that as I had gained experience it was time to fulfil my dream, so I did exactly that. I worked on a cruise ship for 7 months sailing around the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, and it was a great experience that I won’t forget.’
What is your tip for beautiful skin?
‘Try out different brands and find the one both you and your skin love. Make sure you have a strict routine of daily cleansing, toning and moisturising, and exfoliating twice a week. Along with drinking plenty of water and wearing a daily spf.’
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
‘I’ve taken a step back from doing treatments for now. This is so that I can learn different areas of the beauty industry, rather than just carrying out the treatments, although I do still keep my hand in beauty by doing treatments here and there. My favourite treatments to perform as a therapist are facials, purely because of the fact that you can see the results yourself as well as the clients feeling them. ‘

Senior Therapist
Poppy Allen

In 2020 Poppy became a Dermalogica ‘Expert’ therapist and one of our senior therapists.

Q & A with Poppy:
Why did you get into the beauty industry?
‘I have always had an interest in beauty therapy as my Mum is in the profession. My passion developed from being surrounded by the tranquil environment beauty therapy offers. I thoroughly enjoy pampering people and find it very rewarding’.
What is your tip for keeping skin healthy and radiant?
‘I believe the most important thing is definitely keeping yourself hydrated. Drinking plenty of water, as well as a well balanced diet is essential to beautiful sin. Using good quality products and having a strict regime of cleansing, toning and moisturising will be beneficial and ensure you have enough hours of beauty sleep’.
What is your favourite treatment and why?
‘I honestly enjoy performing all treatments – which is great as you get to do such a variety and see all the benefits from these. In particular, facials are lovely to perform, just as they are to receive; so relaxing and beneficial for your skin’.

Q & A with Lucy:
Why did you get into the industry?

‘I first showed interest in the industry when I was a child and would look through my Mums ‘Mmind, body, spirit’ magazine.
Each week you would collect crystals and essential oils. I loved it and my interest just kept on growing. I went to college and studied complementary therapies and beauty with an aim to provide a range of treatments and give advice to clients on how to apply holistic and beauty treatments to benefit everyday life.’
What is your tip for relieving tired, achy muscles?
‘The best thing when you’re feeling tired or achy is taking a time out and ensuring you use this time to relax, which of course can be easier said than done. Using a combination of applying heat, stretches and appropriate massage and essentials oils, when you have the time. For example, a heatpad on your muscles whilst in bed or stretching before leaving the house or on lunch breaks are great at relieveing tight muscles. Regular meditation and yoga are great for clearing and relaxing the body and mind.’
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
‘It’s difficult to choose a favourite treatment. I love the variety I get from being both a massage and beauty therapist. The best days are when no treatment is the same as the last and I have a bit of everything. The calming treatments of facials and massage, followed by the interaction and creativity of manicures and pedicures and weight loss treatments is great!’

Q & A with Claire
Why did you get into the industry?
When I was young I had a big passion for hair and beauty, always playing with hair and make up. Upon leaving school I was offered an apprenticeship in hair, which I loved doing for 11 years! During that time I was always looking into a way to get into beauty. Then finally after years of moaning, my dad paid for me to go college for 2 years to learn my level 2 and 3 beauty, I loved every second and have never looked back!
What is your tip for relaxation?
Drinking enough water is a must for me. My skin doesn’t feel right without it. I also enjoy pampering myself at home, mini facial, body exfoliating and a mini pedi! To take time for yourself.
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
My favourite treatment is by far facials, I really enjoy them and like creating a relaxing atmosphere.

Claire is currently on maternity leave.

Why did you get into the industry?

I love how good someone can leave feeling after a treatment. There’s always a large range of different and new treatments, so there is always something new to learn.
What is your tip for a good homecare routine?
My tip would be to make use of face masks every now and again. They give you the chance to relax whilst treating your skin.
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
Treatments where you can see an instant difference, such as waxing, manicures & pedicures. I also like performing facials, they are such a relaxing treatment to perform.

Beauty Therapist
Ellie Nutt

Salisbury

Ellie joined our team in 2021, from a local spa. Ellie loves all aspects of beauty and is exctied to develop her training with us.

Q & A with Ellie
Why did you get into the industry?

Sadly, I was picked on for how dark my leg hair was in school, as I was young I didn’t understand shaving or waxing. So, that weekend my mum took me to a salon and I got them waxed for the first time and i felt more confident the next time I had PE. So, making people feel good about themselves, and knowing I’m helping them achieve that feeling is very rewarding for me.
What’s your tip for healthy skin?
I’d say my tip for healthy skin would be to keep it hydrated and get plenty of sleep. Drinking as much of water as you can keeps your skin looking radiant, naturally. Having plenty of sleep can restore your sunlight exposure.
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
It’s a tricky one to answer as I enjoy doing all treatments but i’d say a pedicure which might sound strange, but it goes back to making people feel good. Keeping your feet in good condition is very important as feet tend to get neglected in the colder months.

Massage Therapist
Lauren Nicholls

Winchester

Lauren joins our Winchester team. Lauren is a massage therapist and also does our body treatments. Lauren has recently trained after having a career change and is  excited to be part of our Winchester team.

Q & A with Lauren
Why did you get into the industry?

I have always been interested in preventative medicine and the mental and physical benefits of massage. This industry focuses on natural methods of healing, which is important to me as someone who has experience with autoimmune disorders and less common health problems. Also, training opportunities are endless in the beauty industry, and so it offers me an engaging and rewarding career.
What is your tip for great self-care?

Make time for yourself. Many of us have incredibly busy lives that cause us to sacrifice our own mental space. Unfortunately, this can lead to increased stress levels, disordered sleep, strained relationships, and more. To avoid this, I advise actively doing something for yourself on a regular basis – a good pamper session always works for me!
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
I love performing a deep tissue massage on a client. It’s very satisfying to hear that they have reduced pain levels following treatment. It is said that more than half of adults suffer with lower back pain, and a career focused on helping alleviate this is very rewarding.

Leigh-Anne Saunders

I would say having my nails done regularly is what started my interest in the beauty industry. I was always so keen to to know more, so one day I just went for it and studied at Eastleigh College and I have really enjoy my journey so far.
What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
I enjoy all the treatments, but if I had to pick my favourite it would be facials, I love doing them and knowing I’m helping clients achieve their skin goals really makes it worthwhile.
What is your number one tip for great skin?
Always try to cleanse your face morning and night. Moisturise to help keep your skin stay hydrated and radiant in-between your facials with us!

Q & A with Kelly
Why did you get into the industry?
I have always been a fan of pampering and anything beauty and health related. I learnt from a young age from my mum how important it is to look after yourself and your skin. My first passion was massage as this comes with so many health benefits. I find our industry so rewarding and their is always something new and exciting to learn.

What is your favourite treatment to perform and why?
My favourite treatment to perform is definitely a hot stone massage as this is brilliant to relieve muscle tension and just so relaxing to have.

What is your tip for skincare at home?
Regular exfoliation is a must that is often forgotten in our daily routines. A good moisturiser and an eye cream is also key to keeping your skin looking it’s best. The skin around the eye area is so fine and delicate therefore needs to be looked after to keep fine lines and wrinkles at bay.
