About Jacquie

Amiable, affable, friendly, empathetic, a listener who doesn’t just listen but someone who understands and uses that understanding to lead you to a better, happier place. These have been some of the qualities attributed to me. My name is Jacqueline Castle and I bring many of my life’s experiences to my work as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

I have enjoyed married life for many years and brought up a family – two grown up children and grandchildren. My business background is over 45 years – 23 years running a lawn turf business, then my own party plan and beauty salon for sixteen years. Within this time, I became a teacher in Beauty Therapy and, whilst working, heard many people’s stories (some quite troubling) so I decided to train to become a counsellor.

I trained at RCA in 1999, then went on to complete a further advanced Diploma at the Grove in Southampton and finished this off at Exeter University in 2006, gaining an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have also trained in many organisations with sexual-related issues and been interested in issues of domestic violence for 30 years and have worked with victims of sexual abuse and domestic violence for over 20 years. I continue to do this with training every year.

I have had five years experience with an organisation in Dorset and worked closely with a drug and alcoholic client base, working within groups, drop-ins and on a one-to-one basis. I have set up groups to help others who may have been affected by drug or alcoholic addictions, and also carried out some group work within a domestic violence client base at a local organisation.

At this point a rest was needed and I went into working with young adults from the age of 14-24 within schools, drop-ins and anger management and then as a support worker. I felt it was right at this stage for me to incorporate all my skills and set up my own practise that I run from home.

So how does psychotherapy work?

It all starts with a simple conversation, a conversation that breaks down barriers and that launches the insights needed to plan a positive direction for you. It is often the case that a client will come with a specific issue (maybe depression or addiction) but through discussion we will find that there are far deeper areas to explore. We all carry baggage throughout our lives, gathering stuff that we don’t need on the way, and often part of the healing process is revisiting where that initial baggage came from and why we acquire negativity and toxicity.

As a psychotherapist, based in Hampshire, it is my job to identify these events and situations and help provide a solution.

Jacqueline Castle – Psychotherapy & Counselling

Are you struggling with depression or anxiety?

Nowadays, we can find ourselves in very troubled states of mind, feeling very off balance – and this can occur at any time during our lives. We may have lost a loved one, someone who was our energy and the focus of our dreams. We may have no idea what causes our problems and we may feel in a very emotional state with a lot of turmoil and uneasiness around us. This may have stopped us from doing things we have always wanted to do. Also, we may know why we feel like this but have ignored our feelings, hoping they would go away – keeping that lid pressing down on the pressure cooker!

In my experience, any of the following (common) problems can be explored and dealt with in a safe and confidential way:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Relationship problems
  • Relationship breakdowns
  • Low self-esteem
  • Grief
  • Career-related problems
  • Young adults
  • Addictions
  • Dyslexia
  • Sexuality
  • Changes
  • Work-related stress
  • Counselling for couples
  • Miscellaneous life challenges

Are you looking for help with depression, anxiety, phobias, addiction or sexual issues in Hampshire?

If so, based in the New Forest and Winchester City Centre, I cover Hampshire and West Sussex. So call for a meeting and bring anything you need to bring – it’s your choice – but maybe these are some of the questions you may want to ask yourself:

  • Why do I feel like I do?
  • How can I change my behaviour?
  • How can I make my life better?
  • Is there a solution to my problems?
  • How do I find the right person for me to talk to?

I work within a humanistic, person-centred framework, which includes different methods including those from Gestalt, Jung, Pearls, Freud and Carl Rogers.

Tripadvisor review

I booked treatments with afternoon tea for me, my friend and her daughter. The staff were lovely, very welcoming. We started with a sauna followed by our treatments, two facials and a massage which were wonderful. We were all feeling very relaxed after. We then had a delicious afternoon tea with sweet and savoury treats. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience, thank you ladies at Vita Skin Spa!
